My name is Sarah Chauncey, library media specialist at Grandview Elementary School in Rockland County, NY.
Author Mona Kerby and I are partnering on an exciting project to bring authors into classrooms and libraries via SKYPE.

We’ve set up a free, collaborative WIKI -- http://skypeanauthor.wetpaint.com/ -- where you can learn more about this initiative. Each author would have his/her own page on the WIKI.The author page is a standard template which will be assigned to you. You will update the template with your information. Take a look at author Mona Kerby's page.

All you’ll need is Skype installed on your computer and a webcam with built-in microphone or a webcam and separate microphone. We’ve included a Skype Overview page on the WIKI to get you started with Skype.

Arrangements for SKYPE "visits" would be made via email and/or phone between the author and the teacher and/or librarian. A SKYPE visit would make an excellent first meeting with authors who are invited to schools to make in-person presentations.

We would like you to consider two types of visits:

• No Charge - Meet the Author Visit - 10-15 minutes
• In-Depth Visit - 30-60 minutes - charge to be determined by author
