Presentations: I give a presentation called "Alex Van Helsing and how to launch a book series from your head to the bookshelf." I use my YA action vampire series from HarperTeen, Alex Van Helsing to illustrate how a writer comes up with an idea and all the changes it goes through. I keep the presentation very upbeat and encourage students to ask questions, particularly around writing. In longer presentations or if the teacher prefers, I begin with a reading from Alex Van Helsing: Vampire Rising, a 2011 Texas Library Association Lone Star List selection. I also include information on how many different kinds of stories can arise in one area, looking at all the different kinds of vampires in literary history.

Prerequisites: None! But I'd love it if the students have had a chance to try my book. My main desire is that the library have at least one copy of Alex Van Helsing: Vampire Rising (2010) and plan to order the second book, Alex Van Helsing: Voice of the Undead.
