In my picture books I share my passions with children. Through a skype visit, I hope to do so too! We can talk about why and how I wrote books about artists, architecture, math, and more. These are a couple of my recent books:

Dreamer From the Village: The Story of Marc Chagall

A New York Public Library's Best Title for Reading and Sharing with Children 2005
National Council for Social Studies Notable Trade Book
Association of Jewish Librarian’s Notable Children's Book of Jewish Content

Tyrannosaurus Math

a Cooperative Children’s Book Center Choice for 2010.

You can find out more about my books- and about me- by visiting my website. I’ve presented at many traditional schools and at conferences of teachers, librarians and writers. I’m also an instructor in the Writing Program at UCLA Extension.

Presentations: Q and A about being a writer, and about any of my books. You choose the book, I walk you through the writing process, including where ideas come from, revision (trial and error, polishing, eliminating unnecessary words, etc), submission, (rejection!) and publication. I can also customize the talk to meet your curricular needs.

For adult groups seeking a formal presentation: TBA.

Audience: K-5 for students. Also educators, librarians, writers, and any one interested in the topics of my books.

No cost presentation: 10 minute chat.

In-depth talk: 30-45 minutes
Cost: $150

No recording of Skype visit permitted.

Prerequisite for either talk: students must be familiar with the books we’ll discuss and have their questions ready. Technological run-through prior to visit.
