R.J. (Rebecca) Anderson is the author of
Spellhunter (HarperCollins Children's, hc April 2009, pb July 2012) a contemporary fantasy for ages 10 and up about a fierce young faery who fights to save her dying people while concealing her forbidden friendship with a human. In the UK and Commonwealth, the same book has become a bestseller under the title
Knife (Orchard Books, January 2009), and was
nominated for the 2010 Carnegie Medal before winning the
Concorde Book Prize in 2011.
Rebecca's second faery book
Rebel (a.k.a.
Wayfarer in North America) was published in 2010, and the third,
Arrow, had its UK release in January 2011. Her latest is
Swift (March 2012). She has also written a paranormal thriller for older teens,
Ultraviolet, which was published by Orchard Books UK and Carolrhoda Lab/Lerner Books US in 2011.
Rebecca is a preacher's daughter, the wife of an agricultural biologist, mother of three young sons, and an avid lifelong reader of fiction for children and teens. She is an experienced public speaker and also accomplished at dramatic readings from her own books and those of others.
