Presentations: Rose Cooper is the author and illustrator of GOSSIP FROM THE GIRLS' ROOM, A BLOGTASTIC! NOVEL which was released on 01-11-11 by Random House. The second book in the series, RUMORS FROM THE BOYS' ROOM, will be released spring of 2012. Rose is also an artist with work showing throughout Northern California in galleries and at events.

In her "Meet the Author" presentations, Rose will introduce herself to the students, read from her book, and answer questions.

In her in-depth visits,Rose can talk more about her books, the process to becoming a writer with visual aids, and discuss the art of illustrating. Also, brainstorm a short story with Rose guiding the class.

Audiences: Rose has spoken to parents, teachers, youth and activity groups, and would love to speak with children ranging from grades 4-12. To the older students, she'll discuss writing as a career and give book manuscript tips. To younger students, she'll talk about being an author and illustrator, how books are made, what students can do to actively engage their creativity through writing and drawing.

Prerequisites: An author presentation is much more exciting for students when they are familiar with the books beforehand. If teachers and staff demonstrate enthusiasm for the event (and for reading and writing in general), the children will follow that lead.

It can be an added delight for the students to have the opportunity to purchase a book written by the author to take home. Not only is it a fun souvenir of the occasion, but a great reading incentive! A bookstore close to your school or organization can help with advance orders. Rose can sign and mail stickers that students can put inside their books, as well as signed bookmarks.
