Simon Cheshire - Skype An Author NetworkSimon Cheshire is a bestselling children's writer in the UK who has been visiting schools, libraries and literary festivals for well over a decade. He's done promotional book tours around various parts of the UK and America, he's written and presented a number of radio shows, but he has yet to achieve his ambition of going to the Moon. Since his first book appeared in 1997, his work has been published in various countries and languages around the world.

The majority of his work is what he calls “action-packed comedies”, for 8-12 years. He lives in Warwick (near the famous medieval castle) with his wife and children, but spends most of his time in a world of his own.

Presentations: I've had plenty of experience with groups of all sizes, from single classes to whole school assemblies. I find that a simple Q&A session often works best, but I can talk on almost any book-related topic you choose, including the work of a writer and how students can approach planning and writing their own stories. One personal favourite topic is the history of the detective story, which ties-in with my Saxby Smart series for 8-12 year-olds.

Audiences: anyone and everyone! I'm happy to talk to students, teachers, parents or book groups.

Available Times: most times are OK (bearing in mind the US-UK time difference!)

No Cost Meet the Author Visit: 10-15 minutes

In-Depth Visit Length: up to 60 minutes

In-Depth Visit Cost: usually free!

Prerequisites: none, but it always helps if students have read a chapter or two of one of my books, or visited my website.
