I've written over 30 books for children, from picture books to middle grade series fiction. Before I became an author I was an elementary school librarian, so I'm quite comfortable with children and teachers and schools, and love the chance to interact in person or virtually.
Genres: Picture book through middle grade: realistic fiction, humor, fantasy.
Author Address: Renton, WA (near Seattle)
Presentations: Information about my in-person school visits is on my website. Skype visits can be a mix of Q & A, writing tips, or whatever else you'd like it to be. Just ask!
Audiences: K - 6Available Times: If I'm not speaking at schools or conferences, I'm usually home writing (unless I'm walking my dog or kicking up my heels at the gym). I'm available for Skype visits anytime I'm home, so just email me and we'll set up a time that's convenient for all.
No recording of Skype Sessions without permission from the author.
Free five-minute session to discuss preparations for a skype visit and/or perform a "technology check."
Half-hour Visit Cost: $125 per session. My in-person visits to out-of-state schools are $1500 for three presentations, plus travel expenses, so if you have a limited budget a virtual visit makes perfect sense. If you want to order copies of my books beforehand, you'll find information about how to do that on my site. And if you send me the names of students who have bought books, I'll be happy to autograph transparent bookplates and mail them to your school to be put into the books.
Prerequisites: Please prepare students just as if I were coming in person. They should read (or have read to them) at least a couple of my books before our visit. You might also like to have them "research" me by reading some of the information on my website.
