ASK Process of Interviewing an Author
Aug 8 2009, 9:53 PM EDT
Greetings. I'm so glad to see this site and the resources shared! Kudos to Mona and Sarah for your hard work! I would like to share a resource that is used in Michigan for H323 videoconferencing, but would be a great format for Skype author visits as well. It kicks the quality of the interaction up a notch! The authors in MI that use this process love it. You can read about it online here: http://www.misd.net/DistanceLearning/ASK/ASKProgramOverview.htmBasically the students read the book, journal, write good questions, pick the best questions, and then interview the author. There is a video of the process online that you can play for your students and/or in staff meetings to train on how to use the process: http://www.twice.cc/ASK/index.html There's also a file on "Making Your ASK connection a success" that has tips for organizing: http://www.remc11.k12.mi.us/dl/ASK/Partnerships/ASKSuccess.pdf These resources would be very helpful for teachers and authors in preparing for the Skype conference. Wishing you all the best!
