I'd love to hear feedback from a teacher or librarian after the session. How was the sound? Picture? What worked? What could be more effective? Thanks! Do you find this valuable?

Mary, the Skype session this a.m. went smoothly. We could see and hear you very well. The students enjoyed listening to you read your story aloud. It took a little while for them to realize you were really reading it and it wasn't just a recording! You asked them questions about the story and had them participate at different parts which really kept their interest. I thought it was nice that you took time to explain the reason you wrote the story too. I will most definitely recommend this to other teachers!

Was there anything on our end that we could have done to make this work better for you?

Thanks!

Thanks. I really loved seeing the kids flap their wings!!! I'm wondering if it's a bit too long to read the whole book? Do you think it would be more valuable if I talked directly to them about where the idea came from and give them some encouragement for writing? Do you find this valuable?

For my purpose, the read aloud was just perfect. Each week I have a "mystery reader" who comes and reads to the students. They never know who it is going to be. Usually it is a parent or grandparent of one of the students. You were a real surprise though! The students know who you are and know your work, but I hadn't really prepared them for your visit as it was a surprise.

When I finish reading about Lizzie, Luke, Milton, and the gang, maybe we could do another Skype and you could do a Q&A about that story with them and discuss the writing process. Then I could prepare them a little better for that type of session.
