Author Skype Visit in Korea
Mar 5 2010, 2:27 AM EST
Our 5th grade students in an international school in Seoul, Korea, had a fantastic time skype-ing with Maribeth Boelts. We have read her book Those Shoes in our class. We are using her story as a mentor text for our literary essay unit. It was great to be able to talk to an actual author all the way from Korea. The students loved hearing about her life as a writer, her revision process and where she got her idea for Those Shoes. They were so excited to hear that she is coming out with a new book for 5th graders called The P.S. Brothers. We will definitely be purchasing a copy for our classroom library. Thank you for visiting our classroom! We hope to talk to you again soon.

What a neat story--Skype visits open up the world for connecting kids with writers. My picture book, Whale Snow, was translated into Korean and here I am in faraway Alaska!
