I had my first Skype An Author interaction. It was great!!!! The students were so insightful and just fantastic to listen to. Thanks for making it possible to visit with them while no one had to leave their cities.Lee Mandel Do you find this valuable?

Congrats! How did the "visit" come about? Did they just search you out on the Skype An Author site? Please advise. Thanks!! ~ Tina P. Schwartz

Well, it didn't actually happen through Skype and Author, but it could have. I had been in contact with the teacher, who had read my work and followed my personal web information. She suggested I Skype with the girls who read my story. At the same time, I was just about to make an actual, in-person, author visit at an elementary school. The elementary school teacher told me that I should sign on to Skype An Author as she does this several times within the school year for her students. I signed up and as I was waiting for the approval, I had the "unofficial" Skype session with the first teacher. However, I am now mentioning the Skype An Author to everyone who I think might be interested in it. I have yet to be contacted as means of this service. When I finally do "book" an appointment, I will be sure to let you know. If you do before me, please keep me in mind to advise of your experience.Thanks. You are lucky!!! I've been on Skype an Author for about two years and never had anyone from here approach me for a visit. I think that in the UK they are nervous about using Skype because of security. I was told that many LEAs prefer video-conferencing. I don't know if there is a difference? Well, we are into April and it is National Poetry Month, so as I am a children's poet, I hope a school will approach me, ha ha. Always hopeful.
